If you know me, you know that I am a generous and tender-hearted soul.
You also know that I love the spotlight.
And no other spotlight is better than my birthday month - or that of,
as it so happens (coincidence? I wonder?!) a number of my close friends over the years - the month of August. Leos aren't
known for their shyness; rather, they're known for their boldness, their occasional brashness, their loyalty, their unending
generosity . . . good hair (thanks, Carl!) . . . the list could go on, but really what I'm getting at is this: I love this
time of year, and this particular year, I'm particularly happy, and grateful.
Here's to a very good month, and year, ahead.
Oh, the things you learn about all sorts of things when you take a "break"
from your previous real life! A few more to add to my Parts I and II:
1 . . . Don't make fried chicken for the first time when you are
still wearing your bikini after spending time at the pool. Just trust me on this one.
2 . . . Sending out resumes and looking for jobs on various sites
and search engines is alternately fun and agonizing.
3 . . . Facebook is an extremely alluring place to spend your time
when you get frustrated/bored/down-on-yourself in the whole job search process!
4 . . . I wouldn't trade this time that I've given myself for anything
in the world.
5 . . . It is amazing how fast a tan fades when you're fair-skinned.
Good thing summer isn't over yet!
6 . . . It's also amazing how quickly you "forget" facts and figures
that used to be so important in your daily life (brokers' addresses I'd known by heart for years, for example) when they're
no longer germaine to your existence.
7 . . . I've said it before but it's worth repeating: I am so blessed
to have wonderful friends.
8 . . . Reading is one of life's great pleasures. If I can contribute
to other people's pleasure one day, I will be delighted.
9 . . . Parents don't ever stop worrying, no matter how old their
children get. The children just have to deal with it, and try to be grateful instead of irritated!
10 . . . Going to church again is a good thing.
