Where intelligence and fashionista-common-sense have equal footing, good champagne and cocktail napkins are always on hand, women ages 25 to 35 may vote based on taxes and national defense instead of Roe v. Wade scare tactics, and working hard and being a favorite regular are both esteemed art forms. Kisses that leave a girl breathless are the national lottery jackpot, and adorable dogs who know how to behave in designer handbags are expected.

I read my horoscope semi-regularly. In the newspaper, magazines, the usual; my birthday month is my favorite because there's a much-larger-than-normal section devoted just to my sign. Typical Leo, liking to be the center of attention.

Sometimes, like tonight, I read one that hits the nail so on the head I feel like I'm fourteen again, sitting in church and the sermon's directed just at me. Here goes, Leonine horoscope wisdom for the week of October 4th through 10th:

You can drive a car even though you only have a vague idea of how the engine works. You can swim despite your unfamiliarity with the laws of physics and the intricacies of biology that underly your ability to pull off that feat. Please keep this in mind as you weave your way through the interesting challenges of the coming days. It won't be crucial to reach a deep understanding of what's going on. Far more important is that you trust your intuition to show you the right thing to do and say at the right time. Knowing the big picture won't be essential to mastering the ever-changing details.

Well-said, and good advice for me to heed, I think.

Save The Twins. Think Pink. Breast Friends. That's right, it's October - Breast Cancer Awareness month. And we like to make things fun in Carrie Neal Land, so in the spirit of both awareness of an important issue and having fun at the same time . . .

Sage Clothing is having a little gathering this Thursday, from 5 - 8 pm, and it will involve some of my favorite things: shopping, wine, and cupcakes! The Sage location in Midtown (1745 Peachtree St., in the shopping center right by 85 across from the Amtrak station) will have their usual cute stuff plus exclusive tees benefiting the Atlanta chapter of the Susan G. Komen For the Cure Foundation, plus pink cupcakes from Taurus and wine from Little Black Dress.

If I didn't already have plans, I'd be there . . . but maybe you can go in my place!
