They aren't really my style. While
pink is my thing, blue jeans are a fashion diet staple and I couldn't live without my high heels, polka dots . . . not so
much. So it was, first, surprising that I bought the black blouse with tiny white dots at all. (Side note: I don't even
really like blouses; they are typically hard for women with boobs to wear. Gaping between buttons is not cute and it is quite
the challenge to find one that fits just right without requiring you to button too few or too many buttons!) It's even more
surprising that I wore it to work.
But wear it I did, yesterday,
layered under a sweater (solving the gaping problem, as just a hint of the unbuttoned-ness was revealed) and I got tons of
compliments! The whole outfit was pretty cute but I was surprised that it was my unusual choice of shirt that got the most
attention. Was it because the entire ensemble was a bit out of the norm for my wardrobe? Because the shirt looked
particularly fetching in its slight unbuttoned-ness beneath the v-neck sweater? Or maybe just because blondes look good in
black and white tops? Who knows.
Whatever the reason, the positive
reinforcement I got reminded me how fun it can be to throw in the occasional harmless surprise element and
see what happens. I think I'll try it more often!
